Its worth looking for an XYLOGICS ANNEX box, it's an IP KVM, I use it to access console acces to my Cisco and Sun Servers.

Ebay always has a few of these around mostly in the US, I bought my one for £30 "MicroAnnex XL" if you went for the ANNEX III then these self-boot, the version I have requires a TFTP.

Alternative, are DIGI servers, same principle, simple make console DB25/DB9 or RJ45 pins and away you go, the Digi servers is better than the Annex box but you always end up paying for it.

I use Annex for my Sun Cluster Lab at home, they support NON-send break.

Cheers

Subject: [Peterboro] Remote Console Access

Does anyone know an inexpensive way of setting up IP-based remote console access? I would like to set up keyboard/video access to a remote machine, that will let me can access it at BIOS/boot loader level from home (i.e. before the operating system loads). IP-based KVM switches seem to start at around £500, which is a lot more than I want to spend. Anyone got any useful ideas?
