Update FYI: Just been to the school and demoed Edubuntu on our old laptop (600MHz Celeron, I think). They like that for starters. It turns out that their Linux server is running SME (www.contribs.org) which we have oodles of experience with anyway, so that's nice. Not that they knew what it was: it was a share on their network and since it hadn't needed touching for years it hadn't been touched. Running on a good (big!) solid RM P3/800MHz server, which apart from adding some additional storage to it we shouldn't need to touch. They are keen to start looking at using up old desktops for (eg) Edubuntu rather than sending them to the skip. We're a little way off getting them to order new desktops with Linux but we're working on it! Next step OOo and Firefox on their Windows desktops... -- Mark Rogers More Solutions Ltd :: 0845 45 89 555 _______________________________________________ Peterboro mailing list [email protected] https://mailman.lug.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/peterboro
