Ian,

Thanks

Is an integrated Geoforce the same as the Geoforce Express that I mention below?

As for what I want to do with it - I am wanting to try to do more day-day to day stuff on Linux, and not Windows. I have played for a while with Ubuntu on a VM, and plan to use Ubuntu oin whatever machine I get.

Did you have to fiddle about a lot to get your Dell to work OK?

1. Are Integrated (AGP) Graphics OK with Linux?

Yes, my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 2650

2. What about any of these:-

128MB ATi Radeon X300 SMA PCI Express Graphics*
256MB ATi Radeon X550 Hypermemory PCI Express Graphics*
256MB ATi Radeon X700 PCI Express Graphics
256MB NVIDIA Geforce 6200 Turbocache PCI Express Graphics*
512MB NVIDIA Geforce 6500 Turbocache PCI Express Graphics*

NVIDIA provides a common Linux driver for all its grahpics products. My Dell has an integrated Geoforce that works fine with it.

What else should I look out for in choosing hardware?

Depends what you want to do with it really.

Ian
