Ian,
Thanks
Is an integrated Geoforce the same as the Geoforce Express that I
mention below?
Pass. I guess you need to check with NVIDIA.
As for what I want to do with it - I am wanting to try to do more
day-day to day stuff on Linux, and not Windows. I have played for a
while with Ubuntu on a VM, and plan to use Ubuntu oin whatever machine I
get.
I do everything on my Linux laptop.
Did you have to fiddle about a lot to get your Dell to work OK?
No, but I had to fiddle about to get some of the peripherals to work
e.g laser and ink jet printers but there is plenty of info about
hardware compatibilty and Linux on the web.
I started out using Mandrake and now use Slackware.
Ubuntunu is a pretty good distro to start off with. It is well
provided with graphical tools and has access to the huge Debian
database of applications. For a GUI more familiar to windows users you
might like to try Kubuntu which is basically Ubuntu with the kde desktop.
