I do not think it is a Firewall issue.

Ubuntu seems to have its own version of "Desktop sharing" which works
fine, but you have to go into the (host) machine first, start it all up,
and when someone wants to share the desktop, you have to click a button
that allows them in.

When I used Mepis, I could telnet in, start vncserver, and then connect
from a remote machine without the need to go anywhere near the remote box.

Ok, just an idea I had, I know sometimes the silliest things overlooked can
cause the biggest headaches.....

If you bring your machine in to the meeting we can have a play with it if
you like, I am no expert by any stretch but willing to have a go - I have
used VNC server / veiwer quite a lot in windows while in tech support, I
imagine the theory is identical.....just the setup in Linux that we (ok, I)
might struggle with, I am going to root around for some docs and howto's to
get me up to speed with linux side of things and see where we go from
there.
