Anyway-up it sounds like you guys know what you are doing

It's always surprising when (if) we give that impression :-)

p.s. i shall look into joomla, but if its a long-term issue, we can always consider creating our own bridge application by hacking the sql ... ?

I got 5 minutes this afternoon to look at this.

I found:
- A Joomla to mailman bridge [1], which I think should make it easier
for people to sign up to the mailing list
- A Joomla to phpBB [2], which should allow us to use phpBB together
with Joomla with a single set of logons
- A phpBB to Mailman bridge[3] so that the forum and list can work together

Using phpBB with Joomla won't look as good as using it's "native" forum
(SMF) but I can't see a mailman <-> SMF bridge. I think phpBB is
probably a better forum in its own right anyway, its just not so
integrated, and that probably doesn't really matter too much.

There's quite a lot to set up here so I'd like to try offline before
moving it to the live site.
