I'm referring to the kubuntu ISO when burned as a cd. Even check sum can
sometimes give the same issue.
The CD or ISO is fine, except for the software manager crashing out on
the 'upgrade your kernel to version 7.10' and every time [on older
machines 2 years or more] I find you need to configure the xserver as it
destroys the graphics configuration!
I suspect it has something to do with Intel hardware but this is just my
personal experience [not necessarily a common feature]. I prefer Gnome
anyhow ;-)

Sadly the kubuntu CD never works, after a great and easy install it
always asks you to update the kernel and crashes [requiring you to
reconfigure the xserver on the boot screen]
Are you just referring to the Kubuntu CD that you request from
Canonical or all Kubuntu install CD's? I have been using the .iso
from cdimage.ubuntu.com and have not experienced this problem.
/*sudo aptitude install kubuntu-desktop* /
or *
/sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop/
If you choose this option, you also have to update your menus so that
they will not display both gnome and kde programs (unless you want to
see both). I do have to say that this is a nice option if you are not
for sure which desktop manager you like.
