Sounds good.
*Has anyone ever bought anything from the canonical shop?*
BTW - _here is how to run both, ubuntu and kubuntu on the same machine:_
Sadly the kubuntu CD never works, after a great and easy install it
always asks you to update the kernel and crashes [requiring you to
reconfigure the xserver on the boot screen]
*So simply:*
1] Install ubuntu, and when prompted update it, get your basic system
working [i.e. static IP address etc ..] and once you have no more
updates to do and you have configured your restricted drivers - reboot.
2] Login as normal, open the terminal window and type:
/*sudo aptitude install kubuntu-desktop* /
or *
/sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop/
*[i recommend aptitude as this allows you to remove it safely - all of
it - with the 'remove' command]*
*then
enter your password when prompted and job done [it starts to download].
It should take no longer than 10 minutes on a standard ADSL connection.
3] When finished it will want to configure itself.
This will take a further few minutes depending on the speed of your
machine, so get yourself a cup of coffee :-)
Then when asked:
Follow the on-screen questions to determine your default session screen
- KDE or Gnome [gnm]
If it asks for mail settings, choose 'no settings' so you can do it
later on otherwise do it now if you prefer.
4] When the terminal session returns to your username prompt, it is all
done so simply:
close the terminal, reboot, and at the login prompt,
*Choose SESSION, and select either kubuntu or gnome.*
Et Voila .......
You have both; and this works better than the kubuntu CD, and what's
more, there is no need for further updates as kubuntu is the lastest
version.
p.s. In the same instance you could use xubuntu-desktop instead ad you
could always do a disk image with TAR of the install and all your
settings to a DVD - so if your system crashes you don't have to go
through this process again [unless you want version 8.04 of course]!
Hope that helps.

Just to let you know I took delivery today of 30 Shiny Ubuntu 7.10
CD's to distribute at the next LUG Meeting. Much the same as when Mark
had a few to distribute, I thought I'd do my bit for the software
libre community. Should be enough for each of you to take a few to
distribute / influence friends and colleagues.
Unfortunately I realized they are all Ubuntu (therefore Gnome), I
believe this was my fault as I should have really ordered a few of
each flavour (eg kubuntu - for the KDE fans amongst us) as well. Oh
Well, maybe I'll remember next time.
Cheers.
