People send a message to the list and I think the default behaviour 
should therefore be to reply to the list. Nearly all other groups work 
like this. If you want to reply privately you clearly make a decision to 
do so and should therefore take extra care to ensure it does not go to 
the list.

I think the current set up is fine.
