The joys of anecdotal evidence! A quick straw poll of some of the lists I am subscribed to: ALUG: RTS (Reply to Sender) Asterisk (VoIP PBX): RTL (Reply to List) DSpam: RTS IPCop: RTS Lugmaster: RTL MySQL: RTS MythTV: RTL Postfix: RTS Smarty: RTL SMEServer: RTS Synapse (delphi libs): RTL This has shown me, to my surprise, that there is less of a clear picture than I realised. I must be so used to hitting "reply to list" now that I hadn't noticed. > If you want to reply privately you clearly make a decision to > do so and should therefore take extra care to ensure it does not go to > the list. > On the basis of the logic, I think the current situation is wrong. However, the main reason I wanted to change was for consistency with the rest of the world, and doing this little bit of research has shot that argument down. At the moment I feel that I have therefore lost this argument. If there is considerable desire to change then I will do so. I am happy either way; it won't particularly change my life either way looking at the list of lists above. All it has really achieved is to add to my despair of proprietary software that they have all overlooked the functionality required to make a consistent user experience possible. I would have thought that Gmail at least would have reply-to-list capability, but alas no. One more reason why email is broken beyond repair, I guess. -- Mark Rogers // More Solutions Ltd (Peterborough Office) // 0844 251 1450 Registered in England (0456 0902) @ 13 Clarke Rd, Milton Keynes, MK1 1LG _______________________________________________ Peterboro mailing list Peterboro@mailman.lug.org.uk https://mailman.lug.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/peterboro
