well you basically need just a single tree ;)
- package
- class
- protocol
- method
I do the single tree with:
- package group
- package
- extension
- aClass
- method
- aClass
- aClass class
- protocol
- method
- comment
- protocol
- method
I'm so accustomed to the way this reduces my work view to the things I
need that I feel useless when working with Nautilus :) And no more class
/ instance toggle to boot, the ability to write an instance method while
looking at all the methods on the class side, the ability to look at
another class method names while writing a method, the removal of all
buttons and toolbars, etc...
I also like the fact I never have to remember that
*package-name-test-thingy-whatever is the protocol name for the
extensions of Package-Name-Test-Thingy-Whatever, and that I shouldn't
get the name wrong!

honestly, for me removing the 3rd panel generates much more confusion.
not the we shouldn't think on better ways to represent the information, but I
prefer to have the protocol panel rather than a three, for example.

I wonder why they bother with the third pane; the fourth pane with the
categories shown make that redundant.
A bit too much space wasted for a small window or a netbook screen for my taste.

I like the way recently modified is on top of all packages and I like the way
categories are shown.
