Sorry for coming so late on this.

You are raising a good problem. Indeed, to approach a specific domain, you
can benefit greatly from an integrated solution that contains predefined
parsers and models for known formats.

This is what we try to achieve with Moose (see here an overview
http://www.humane-assessment.com/blog/moose-custom-analyses-made-easy). The
poster child of Moose is software analysis and for that we have parsers,
models and dedicated analyses that come out of the box. So, for your case,
if you have a specific data format and model, you would indeed benefit from
having it available. And you are right that this makes it easier for people
that want to click fast to play with a tool.

However, even for the case of software analysis, we argue that the
predefined tools do not get you very far, and this is why we offer the
possibility of building your own tools.
