I have read these posts with much interest. Did we attend the same show? There was less selling in the parking lot, because there was less for sale. There was also not more 'quantity' inside, there was far less than in previous years. If I wanted to see show place machines, I would go to a museum. I buy parts and parts machines and there were almost none there. What was there was an over abundance of over priced machines and super high prices on the rarer ones. That one dealer from Calif who sets up to the right as you walk in who has a lot of space, I spent 4000 in his booth last year and 6 the year before on fixer machines. I bought nothing from him this year, he had almost nothing for me. He said it was getting harder and harder to find the kind of machines I wanted. I sell phonos and radios for a living, its how I pay the rent. You can say how great this show was all day long, the truth is its a shadow of what it was just 5 years ago and next year will be worse. Its the same at the big radio shows in Chicago & Lansing. Because of Ebay, fixer up radios either fetch a premium or are nonexistant. 2 years ago I spent 7 grand at Lansing, last year I spent less than 1000. This year I expect to find next to nothing. Ebay has ruined many areas of collecting. Radios and phonos are just 2 of them. If you're a collector with a bottomless checkbook, nothing really affects you. But for dealers like myself its tougher and tougher...
