Steve,
This is my VV-X. My work horse.

I pulled the motor board this morning to look at the motor assembly. Nothing
looks broken or stripped. When I turn the crank to wind it, only one of the
two spring barrels turns and there is the sound of something slipping loose
sort of like a dull click. I am guessing that the spring has either broken or
slipped off of the post.

The springs on this machine have been grabbing a bit lately. It was due for a
rebuild or at the least a good cleaning.

Who would you all recommend that I send this to for repair? I've decided to
let a professional do the rebuild.
Tom

  Hi Tom,

On my Vic VI when you wound it up so far the spring barrels would flex and
the round gear would come off of the worm gear and it would unwind very
fast. I solved this by putting felt between the barrels. Please let us
know what you find and what Victrola was it?

  Steve

I had something happen tonight that was a first for me. While playing a
record on one of my Victrola's I had the main spring break!

It was so violent that the record came off of the center post. Luckily, the
  record wasn't damaged.

It looks like I am going to get my first shot at totally replacing a main
  spring.

Tom,

George Vollema is the best around. Fast turn-around and very reasonable
prices. He has a website: www.victroladoctor.com and his email is
[email protected]

Hope this helps!
Sean
