A few days ago, I was accused of censoring a post that didn't appear
on Phono-L. For those who don't know me well or haven't been on Phono-
L long, I feel an explanation is in order.

First, I don't moderate or censor posts. Phono-L is a completely
automated system. The only things that are held from immediate
postings are messages that go over a certain size limitation,
messages with attached viruses, or messages from a non-subscribed
email address. Even in those cases, the system simply holds the
message until I approve them for release. I don't check for subject
matter to ensure posts are on topic.

Anyone can join Phono-L. There are no identity checks or probationary
periods. You join, you are part of the community and able to fully
participate.

As for the matter at hand, it was simply a case of the intended post
never reaching Phono-L. It may have been eaten by some server along
the way or misaddressed. All I know is that it was never received.
The person attempting to post the messaged simply assumed - without
asking me first - that I had censored his message.

I encourage you to drop me a line if you feel something isn't working
right or you have an idea to make the list better or more useful.

Your humble servant,
Loran
