I checked, and as Greg posted, the C Gem body is quite a bit different than the D body. I had always assumed that they were identical or nearly so. There is no doubt in my mind about the maroon paint being original and it has the "Edison" decal (also old). The maroon paint is very nice but on the few blemishes, black paint is underneath. I can only assume that it was painted black in error and then corrected at the factory. I enjoy the oddity and have appreciated the different views expressed here. The machine will probably be at Union so more list members can give me their two cents worth.
Anything that I post is out there and public knowledge so anyone is welcome to repeat a good story or a topic.
