Hi Ron,Someone might have put them in backward, then installed them the right 
way without making the necessary adjustment to allow the spring to grab the

Steve took the words right out of my mouth. 
Ron, if you can, see if you can visualize the direction of the way the barrel 
hook engages when you turn the crank. You will need some stout needle nosed 
pliers to rebend the spring in the proper hook.
