Ah, but John, you are being rational...To properly experience delusions of
grandeur you must of necessity throw rationality to the wind.

I almost feel sorry for this guy - almost. His text has taken on a desperate
and almost pleading tone for someone, anyone, to please, please, please,
believe him... And it only seems to further discredit any shred of
legitimacy (not that there ever was any). Now that it has been listed for
the third time, the opening bid is lowered to a mere $100,000.00. It looks
like Dennis won't have to dig for as many mason jars as he originally
thought! Hmmm....I wonder if that single "private bidder" who bid
$250,000.00 the first time it ran will be back...

Something makes me think that, even if the decal is exactly what this guy
says, and let's assume that we could prove if it is the only one left, and
then taking into account that such a decal back in the day was probably not
uncommon, it just seems that the value of such a thing could not exceed many
hundreds of dollars to perhaps a few thousand?

I think I would scrounge up a couple hundred thousand (and ask Dennis for
some mason jars) to buy an original Edison Music Store and have it moved to
my property here in Gettysburg, PA, but I think I'd have to have just a BIT
more than a decal...

Ya know, the one thing I really can;t figure out is, let's say he CAN sell
it at auction for 5 mil. Even with fees he'd walkaway with more than 2 or 3
million. What's wrong with that, especially because he supposedly got it
free from his grandad, or whoever. This whole deal smells funny.

To list an item with starting bid of $250,000 and Buy It Now of $500,000
doesn't cost much if item does not sell.
The insertion fee would be $4.80, a reserve price fee is $50, and a Buy It
Now for 1/2 million costs only 25 cents.
However, if it does sell (not likely in this case), the Final Value Fee
would be something like $3,768. I think these numbers
are correct, but I'm not sure as I have never listed or sold an item quite
this expensive :)
