As eBay is always a hot topic what about the new policy at eBay. I'm not an eBay collector but it does have a useful purpose. It seems that buyers and sellers must use Paypal. The best I can tell as I write this is eBay does not release the seller address unless through Paypal...!! At least I couldn't find it. I had to email the seller (he said no Paypal in his description). Starting in January as I understand it any mention of cash, money order and the like will result in the listing being pulled. Starting in 2012 Paypal will report to IRS transactions over $20k in total or 200 or more transactions per year.
This is from their boards. I have a hard time finding much from eBay so I may stand corrected. The question is how will eBay grow and attract more buyers? Will new people registering go through the Paypal drill? I wouldn't. Many will not. Of those already registered how many do not do have Paypal. After years of pushing and still not giving their bank account numbers to eBay will they? How many of those will walk? What is the arrogance of this in a declining economy ? Thoughts. I have one. As seen this AM, sell on phono-l. Use photobucket or Picasa to post pictures. Picasa will host them and just put the link in your email. Loran and I talked about this new eBay policy last night. Looking for more thoughts. I know it should be a Lyric T-1 #9 in Hazelcorn's book. I was hoping an Edison C bar with sapphire would work, but I do not believe it will. A close-up picture would be great if possible. Does anyone make the correct needle bar for the AZ's Lyric reproducer? PayPal is their banking arm, and they want more and more cut from the sales. It may be that there is buyer protection if PP is used, but considering eBay's policy of: "If you're screwed, tough gazotz", the notion of any extended comfort for the buyer is purely a joke. I've been swindled by a seller, and eBay's "Fair Trade" is the sham that one would expect it to be. Whether or not, their policy will damage them, remains to be seen. They probably figure that they have a strong enough PayPal base to maintain sales levels strongly enough to thumb their snoots at those of us who don't use Pay Pal. There may be more noses to thumb at them than they expect.
