Many thanks for those contemplating my problem with the Class M topworks screw.

Mario has provided the blindingly obvious solution which is that the screw
pushes against the boss in the middle of the Class M deck ( located between the
two right hand mounting blocks) and acts as firstly a stop to prevent the
topworks moving to the left and slackening the drive belt, and secondly as a
belt tensioner.

My problem was looking at the topworks in isolation and not when it was mounted
to the deck.

At least I now know how to make minor tension adjustments to the drive belt on
my two Class M's.

Best wishes to all.
