Those screws are, for sure, from a Bettini reproducer. And, of course, they are more than 100 years. Perhaps the picture, because of the camera flash, has a too hight contrast and screws look like new ones, but if you look at them directly you can count the years they are.
I woulk like to find a withworth 1/8'' nut better than changing the screws. Do you think is so difficult? I think I would replace them with screws and nuts of the samesise with standard threads. You can probably find some old ones that would be in character with your machine. Keep the screws you have with your machine just in case you ever find the correct nut, ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gabriel Marro" <[email protected]> To: "Antique Phonograph List" <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 18, 2010 2:32 PM Subject: [Phono-L] Problems with withworth screws I am restoring a phonograph and have found a problem with screws and nuts. This image: http://www.boxio.com/390IKUMODS33/withworth screws&nut.JPG shows two screws and a copper nut that is to be embedded in the wood. Well, my problem is that the phonograph lacks the other nut. Here, in Spain, there is almost impossible to find withworth screws o nuts as they have never been used here since more than one hundred years. Do any of you know where can I get a nut to put it embedded in the wood? I think the metric is 1/8'' Withworth. Thanks in advance, Gabriel.
