I concur that the button makes it easier, especially on a nice, well-lubricated machine where it's easy to go too far and then swinging all that mass back over to the right (without going too far again), prior to setting the diamond down on the disc. I don't speed through, but it's a lot of mass to swing over and stop dead before dropping the stylus. The button stops it exactly where it needs to be and there's no fishing.
