It's a story all right. The bracket and elbow are obviously Crapophone parts 
form India. And knowing India's huge brass industry, I'd guess the whole thing 
was made there. I knew Charlie Haines and went to his shop every week for the 
two years I lived in Philadelphia. I wonder when he got it. It says he sold it 
in 1996. I returned to California in 1992 so he must have gotten it after I 
left.
Nice story but not worth $5500.
