I see xml and unicode as critical technologies for PHP in it's role as a 
web based scripting language, as critical as html itself.  If people 
cannot seperate that from the issue of embeding a bit more code in PHP 
distributions, and recognize that xml is as critical to the future of 
PHP as the web itself, well, there's no convincing.
