As long as the extension is marked EXPERIMENTAL so are the
docs and so they may be out of date for current version and
also up to date with current versions and not reflect the
behaviour of any of the older versions.

As it has been mentioned numerous times, volunteers are
always welcome. IIRC I was among the first ones who updated
the sockets docs (better say: parts of it) to more current
versions (but even in this time some functions behaviour may
have changed). But my spare time has been narrowed done in
the past and so it has been for others too.
Since Jasons target is to have it stable for 4.3 we can
pretty much assume we can safely update the docs now.

Extensions or function not being marked as EXPERIMENTAL but
having their behaviour changed over time are in cases it was
not forgotten [tm] updated to reflect this (i.e. something
like "Note: The behaviour of this function before PHP 4.7.8
    was broken ..", etc.)

Simply apply for a phpdoc cvs account (the link is somewhere
at php.net) and you can fix it yourself (fast) or open a
documentation bug about it (maybe not so fast).
