Perl is just an older language.. AFAIK, php can do all perl can do, and the other way round.. Although, PHP is being developed more active than Perl it seems... Maybe due to php being like at least 10 years younger (I think it's accutually something like 25 years difference)... Perl is harder to read but it's more.. well, you don't need to type as much in perl as in php.. Char effiency or whatever.. Some ppl like perl, some php...
