Rob, I agree, but you are suggesting is khtml2png which is cool, perfect, 
fantastic, but it's not PHP, isn't it?

You ask me: I want a snap via PHP
I reply: well, I don't think such thing exists: a render engine entirely 
written in PHP and GD2

Maybe we should create one ...
