Hi, To be honest I don't know a whole lot about active directory. My only exposure to active directory is at work from a user's perspective, I've never seen the admin interface. In my testing, it "just worked". If you're using active directory, you should just need to set the server (adauth1) and Windows domain (xyz.net).
Looking at your e-mail, you didn't mention if you installed the ldap module for php. Maybe that's it? In debian/ubuntu it's the php5-ldap package. I hope that helps. If it doesn't work, let me know and I'll do some research.
