Having now found the trick with overriding the .css on Firefox, I've been switching the font, colours and layout over. I'm running Lucida Sans Unicode which is still a little more readable than Fira Sans. My problem on the high res monitors is that Source Sans Pro and Fira Sans are both a little 'thin'. Fira Sans is certainly a bit better, but I'd still stick with my own override. I can work without having to zoom the page which just looses too much content ... there is simply too much white space on the pages so making the font more readable is preferable to running at 150% zoom which is necessary with Source Sans Pro.
