Ok this is going to be a continuing series of questions from a new
php/mysql user.

First let me explain my setup.

#1 I administer a network that consist of 25 windows98SE machines,2
dual boot Windows98SE/Windows2000 Pro machines,10 Windows XP Pro
machines,1 windows 2000 dual NIC Server machine that runs a
firewall/proxy application that lets everyone access the internet
using NAT and that validates log on and access for the Win98Se
machines, and 3 network printers.

We have a class room where all the windows 98 machines. And office
staff in the same builing that use the WinXp machines, I use the one
of the dual boot machines and the teacher in the classroom uses the
other.

This is all connected thru a 100mbs Ethernet network to the server
and from there to a cisco828 dsl router to a 1.5mbps DSL line.

#2 I work from home on a 700mhz windows ME machine behind and
Zonealarm software fireall(Not ZA pro, the free version) to a 802.11b
wireless connect with a 28kbps dialup as a back up. I have php
4.1,Mysql4.1,winmysqladmin1.4, MysqlCC 0.9 beta, and the BadBlue
Personal edition 2.6 web server.

Ok there is the background.

My first of many question. When I start winmysqladmin and right click
on the icon and click "start server" the green light in the traffic
light icon never lights up as its suppose to.

Second when I start MysqlCC and sert up hostname as "localhost", port
as 3306,Username as "root" and then click the test button I
get "[EMAIL PROTECTED]:3306] ERROR 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server
on 'localhost' (10050)"

What am I doing wrongly??

I am using mysql, php and badblue on my home machine so I can get
familiar with it before I deploy it at work. So I really need answer.

Thanks in advance
