This is one of a long list of *really* good arguments for not using Windows for your web server.
-- I'm not, I stated my web server was Linex with Apache. My home computer uses Windows and IIS. I have Red Hat on a older computer here at home, but I can't accomplish anything with it. I agree, more things are supported more with UNIX. I have read much where Windows problems are pointed out, and UNIX is better. I still like to create scripts with textPad and use Visual Studio Net on my Windows computer. On a *nix box, you can simply have the folder/file you need to write to be owned by the user that apache is run as (typically www or apache). You don't have to set world-write permissions on the folder, which is never a good plan. You *might* be able to do that on Windows -- it's worth checking out, but you'd be well advised to bite the bullet and move to Linux/Apache for production stuff. There's a reason that it's the de-facto platform, and it's well worth the learning curve. -- Apache is nobody(99), from the phpinfo() function. So I would just put nobody as the owner? I just learned about Apache being the one who needs the permissions to write to a directory. -- I seen how to ftp a site. So that is how I'm going to place my images on the remote server. I figured out one of my questions. Thank you, Jeromie, for your reply. Tanya Holliday --------------------------------- Yahoo!
