I know that it's in CVS, but till the licensing issue is solved,
converting and and finally implementing it is useless work, if we may
not change the already outdated story. Therefore I've suggested to leave
it physically where it is, and just implement it like now in the manual.

Yep, and in case that this is really a part of "Web Application
Development with PHP 4.0", maybe also T. Ratschiller and T. Gerken.
The best would be if somebody who already knows them personally would ask.
