I don't know the internals of scintilla. Anyway, apart of the ugly
interface, it's good, fast, and is widely used in gtk/qt/wx IDEs and
editors. Now it's the 2.0 release, it seems quite stable and they added
"multiple selections" and "virtual space" features.
