+1 on /bin/bash and a subset of *nix utilities available in cygwin - for that
matter, I'm for doing a substantial copy & paste from Hadoop scripts - they've
been found to work properly in very diverse environments. Windows users are
handicapped enough by their environment, let's not make it worse by using perl
;)
