Would it be possible then to show such parts in-line as part of the
message body without too much effort? 

Although the message above was only created for testing purposes, the
same way Evolution formats forwarded messages. In the UI they are
displayed without any body, you have to download them to see their
content. And of course sphinx returns such messages as search result,
but the user won't see anything related to his search. Maybe that's
confusing.
