I wouldn't call the O'Reilly book, found here:

to be a 'v.good' programming book for this platform.
I bought this book when it first came out, and it seems to be nothing
more than a walkthrough of developing (admittedly a good, broad-use
application) using various tools, but very, very little focus on the
non-Windows tools.
Since this is our "space", it's hard to get past that and see the
merits and use of things like par, prc-tools, pilrc, and other tools on "our
side" of the development space. They barely touch on those items, and instead
focus on the Codewarrior examples.
Neil has promised a newer edition which covers gcc more closely
though, thanks to the growing use of that platform for Palm development.
