I have a used polaroid back that I picked up on Ebay for $70 to use with
my Bender 4X5 pinhole camera kit. I love it. I use type Polaroid type
55 (B&W w/positive/negative). This allows me direct feedback (the
positive), with a negative to play with in the darkroom later. Polaroid
claims ASA 50 for this but I shoot it @ 20 ASA to get the shadow detail
on the negative. I had some difficulty tracking down the reciprocity
failure for these but used the Polaroid technical data sheets as a
starting point.
http://www.polaroid.com/service/filmdatasheets/4_5/index.html This link
will take you to their 4X5 film data sheets.

It has to be a pretty light day given the combo F187 rating of my
pinhole and 20 ASA. I have just started using it to evaluate zone
plates that I have made for my Bender. I just wrote to Jay and got 2
extra lens boards so I could mount the zone plates easily.

Happy Pinholing!

Subject: [pinhole-discussion] Looking for tips on using Polaroid back
and film

I recently purchased and built a Bender 4x5 pinhole camera and want to
outfit it with a Polaroid back or something similar, like Fuji instant
film back. Has anyone tried this? What are the plus point and what are
the pitfalls? Any tips would be great.

Thanks,

Eric Baxter
