Ditch the simple timeline. Leave that for Kino users. The problem with a thumbnail/synopsis is that it assumes that you have one media clip after another, with no overlap (the problem w/ the simple timeline). If you have even the most basic of overlaps (composites or background audio tracks), presenting that relationship becomes cumbersome.
