Keribug,

I haven't been diagnosed with a tumor yet, but I have "partial empty
sella syndrome" since 2003 and the doctor says my pituitary gland is
seen in the turcia saddle (which cradles the pituitary naturally) but
my pituitary gland has atrophed (or shrunk in size) and that may have
been caused by a tumor. My hormones have been out of balance for
sometime and I am told that I have a hypopituitary condition as the
result which means that one or more of my hormones is effected since
the pituitary gland maybe performing at a decreased rate. Nearly 20
years ago, (at age 29) I had to have a total hysterectomy due to a
very bad case of endometreosis. Prior to that surgery I had such
heavy periods, some that would last nearly 2 to 2 and a half weeks in
length. Each time I was so drained due to the extreme heavy periods!
(I have a friend locally who has had a tumor and successfully has gone
through surgery and has no problems now who told me it was likely that
my pituitary gland has had problems for a much longer time than I've
ever known since I had endometriosis and that her doctor told her
there was a correlation between the two.) I can not say it is
definitely true, but I have no reason to question the truthfulness of
her statement to me. It would be very interesting for you to discuss
the very heavy periods with your doctor and hear what the doctor's
response would be. Please let me know if you learn anything about that.
