Hello Kris

I had a prolactinoma as well (at 17years doc discovered it as I never went through puberty)  My tumor was extremely large and I was immediately put on bromocriptine (there was no dostinex back then - I am now 38yrs).

My tumor shrunk and so did my body size (yeah!!!).  After being on the bromo for many years I got married and wanted children.  I have NEVER had a period unless I take progesterone pills (prometrium/provera).

I had to start bringing on my period with progesterone and eventually had to take clomid.  It took 7 months until I became pregnant.  My doc was just about to stop trying as taking clomid for long periods is not recommended.  I took one last dose and thank goodness it worked.

I stopped with the bromo as soon as I knew I was pregnant.  I had a terrific pregnancy and delivery (14hours).  I had a healthy baby boy.  When I wanted a second child, I followed the same routine of bromo, provera and clomid - this time I became pregnant after 1 try.  Again I had a wonderful pregnancy (I actually started losing weight - the baby was growing perfectly inside).  I had a good delivery (12 hours) and I delivered a perfect baby girl 3 years ago.

I did breastfeed both kids for 1 year. I had so much milk I could have fed 10 kids   Hindsight is 20/20 and I know now that I probably should have stopped breastfeeding sooner (or maybe not have done it at all) and returned to my bromocriptine, as my moods went bullistic and I had a terrible time regulating my hormones again.

Overall, I had wonderful success and since I have never had a period and wasn't ovulating, I was very skeptical of ANY possible success.  I think it has all been a miracle.

I still have a constent battle with weight and have to be very watchful of my prolactin levels.  When my level was 20, I was still very irritable and moody.  Now that is is finally down to 7(by taking bromocriptine), I feel almost normal.

Please make sure you have a great Dr. support system - Endos and OB/GYN before having kids.  You will need their support in getting your post pregancy hormones back to normal (for the baby's sake).  You can't take care of a baby if you are in need of help yourself....a lot of docs just chalk it up to postpartum depression if you are moody....hopefully they will be more informed now.

here is hoping there is a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow for you.
