I
know your endo doesn’t seem to be concerned, as he is focusing on the
prolactin levels and he probably feels at some point, when the prolactin levels
normalize, and the tumor shrinks, that your cycles should resume. I tend to be
one of those who push the issue though, and I’d ask him about your
concerns about your periods, and see if he will run a few more tests. Perhaps
he should check your reproductive hormones to ensure that you don’t have
any issues related to, but not necessarily caused by, the prolactinoma.
It is common to have menstrual disorders
with hyperprolactinemia as they elevated prolactin affects the gonadotropic hormones.
I know you are only 20, but these abnormalities can also lead to osteopenia,
and even outright osteoporosis. In some patients, hyperprolactinemia is also
accompanied with PCOs, so it is also possible that you could have elevated
testosterone (abnormal hair growth, acne) in addition to the anovulation.
I hope you get some answers from him.
You know, you can always seek the advice of another doctor.
Hope this helps - Minnie
