Hi Vedamays, Six months after my surgery in 12/02, the post-op MRI showed a tumour 2/3 the size of the original macro non-functioning pit tumour. My neurosurgeon said it was a very rapid regrowth and recommended immediate radiation. The radiologist whom I visited recommended second surgery to resect the tumour and then do 25+ days radiation. I almost followed the advice. I cancelled the 2nd surgery 2 days before the date fixed. Later I visited another neuro who said he could not determine whether that was a regrowth or just left-overs from the surgery because I did not do my post-op MRI immediately after the surgery. I in fact followed the neuro's advice to do it six months afterwards. It would be a pretty big left-over lump to avoid one's attention, assuming the one operating on me was competent! I took the chance to wait for 5 months before doing another MRI (my third). There was no significant change. 13 months later, that was last month (December 04), I did the 4th MRI, still no significant change. I have to watch it annually by MRI.... and hope for the best (i.e. no significant change). I hope this experience will calm you a bit! Oldmanfore |
