Just read through this thread
For what it's worth I visited my GP last week who said my hormones were within their ranges, albeit at the low end (TSH, T4, LH, FSH, Free testosterone, Prolactin) and when I tried to discuss my thoughts on what I've been reading on the internet and discussion forums such as this, he barked and said "you don't have pituitary disease!" I asked him why an earlier test of testosterone and DHEA were out of their ranges, he said it was a fluke. The obvious question is how do we know the latest results weren't a 'fluke'? I have my meeting with the endo later this week with whom I've only had one appointment so I don't know if he will be proactive on this or not. If not, I will be in a situation where I'll have to go in search of a pituitary specialist and quite possibly a new GP if he won't give me a referal.
Obviously, I can't diagnose myself with a pituitary problem, but from the responses I've had on this an other forums, it seems there's many who needed thorough investigating done. The internet has not only been a source of knowledge for me, but also a source of reassurance which has actually helped to reduce a great amount of fear I've had up until now.
Hope this helps you to feel not so alone on this one... |
