Hi Pete,

You did not say in this message if you have a functioning or nonfunctioning adenoma. I am no expert but how it is treated, and whether it will keep growing or not depends a lot on what kind of adenoma it is. In September of 2003 ( after 12 years of being told I had Multiple Sclerosis) they told me I had a pituitary tumor. Probably about the size you have now. First they said it was nonfunctioning, and we would just have to watch it that there was really no treatment. In April of 2004 they decided they were wrong, and said they thought this was a prolactinoma. So I started taking Dostinex so in April of this year it would be one year since starting Dostinex. Now up to date on January 20th I had an MRI, and the next day my neurosurgeon called me and said that my adenoma had grown and he was referring me to a Doctor about having surgery as now my adenoma if 18 x 18 x18 mm and it is pressing on my optic nerves. They have told me I can wait until mid March when I finish my second quater of school and then I have to have surgery, my new surgeon has told me my only option is surgery, no Gamma Knife as it has gotten to close to the nerves. I guess what I am trying to say here as that no two people are alike or no two adenomas, and that yes it is acceptable to wait and watch to make sure it does not grow. But most important if you don't feel your Doctor is making an informed decision you should definately find someone to give you a second opinion. i had an endocrinologist who was just not informed at all about pituitary adenomas and I made the mistake of not looking around. Now I feel like I have doctors who are experienced and I feel more comfortable. I wish you luck and I will keep you in my prayers.

Have a good day

Sharon
