Hi Fauna, I took Dostinex for 10 months as my doctors thought I had a prolactinoma. The first few months the side effects were awful and predictable I knew which day I would have head ache, which for stomach and which for dizziness it was tough. At first it made me very sick with horrible headaches especially behind my right eye it hurt like someone was sticking a knife in it. My eye and nose would go numb and even my lip sometimes. The sickness, virtigo and dizziness were bad also. I also had the extremely stuffy nose ( try saline for that it helps) and yawning. The endo finally figured out that it was to high of a dose for me and I started taking 1/4 of a pill twice a week. It made a huge difference and I adjusted quite well and my prolactin stayed down. Of course my prolactin was only increased because of stalk effect not from tumor producing prolactin. But if you are having side effects it might be wise to cut the dose and increase slowly as your body gets used to it. Then watch the prolactin and make sure it stays stable and then you can look for the smallest amount that provides the best results. Dostinex can be hard on you at first but given the right amount and some time to adjust I got to the point where I did not even know I took it. Also the part about taking it a bed time is a good idea it made a big difference as you sleep through some of the worst side effects. Also sometimes the reason for dizziness, headaches and stuff is low blood pressure. You might want to keep and eye on that also I don't know if you are a big water drinker. but the more hydrated you are the less the low blood pressure thing will affect you. On the days I would drink a lot I would feel much better. My daughter who is almost an RN told me that and it helped alot. Well I hope some of this is helpful and if I can answer anything else let me know. Sharon |
