Yes, I know of Dr. Faulbush, and he is right, it is the surgeon and.... The skill lies in the hands of the surgeon. Surgeons train for years and years, neurosurgeons at least 12-14 years. We have wonderful, wonderful neurosurgeons and pituitary neurosurgeons in this country. The tools are designed to help these talented surgeons do their jobs better. They are only tools though. Without the best surgeon combined with the best tools, well, then you have a fancy piece of equipment.

In the case of the installation you are referring, it is the one of its kind (right now) in the U.S. Are you fishin? If so... I ain't bitin... lol.

Most centers use an image guided system for microadenomas. The most common i-MRI is the Odin because it is compact. I was ribbed a bit at my hospital because I traveled to Portland where they use the Odin for iMRI in the resection of pituitary tumors. (That is not why I had my surgery up there - lol. There was alot more to it.) I don't think there is a "list" so to speak of who has what, but, you can always ask your pituitary neurosurgeon what technologies their team uses to help them do their job better.
