JM- I'm a little fuzzy on the details myself, because they sometimes use the terms interchangeably, but from what I understand, Transphenoidally means going in through either the gumline, or through the side of the nose where an incision is made. Both proceedures can lead to greater recovery lengths I guess. Endonasally, they go stright up through the nose and only have to make a cut in the 'sella' bone, so there are no visible scars, and the recovery time is usually much much quicker with much less discomfort. I just had the endonasal done last wed. and I was out and walking around the Streets of Boston the very next day- No bruising, no swollen/black and blue eyes, no icky nasal packing etc. If you are a candadate fro endonasal, that would be my first choice for proceedure. |
