"If you have any questions about anything following your surgery with Dr. Shahinian, call his office. Follow your post op requests about sleeping upright and bending to the "T"." This is just plain, good advice. Doctors from other institutions have other advice, and there may be a reason why the 'team in oregon' 5 years ago (now a different team - by the way) gave you a certain prognosis, and I am happy you are cured.![]()
Please understand that in your generalized statement, that any post operative patient who is cured, could post your post, and substitute your surgeon for theirs, and their hospital for the one you had your surgery at, because their feel just as heatfelt gratitute as you for the care they received. I'll pick on my neurosurgeon... (he loves me). If you have any questions about anything following your surgery with Dr. Delashaw, call his office...they are fabulous! Most post op patients do not have the resources you do with that team. Not only are they knowledgeable in general, they have the specifics to your case. I think you went to the best surgeon in the world...and he surrounds himself with such knowledgeable people that you will not be led astray with your questions. I will always look to my experience with that team as the hallmark of what a medical team should look like. You can absolutely depend on what Dr. Delashaw tells you. The Boston team that looked at me gave me only a 50% chance of removing my tumor and Dr. Delashaw gave me a 98% chance. He removed my tumor in 2004 and I have no signs of tumor regrowth, or endocrine disease recurrance! You can call me if you want: xxx-xxx-xxxx. Follow your post op requests about sleeping upright and bending to the "T". They may have more requirements than some but they know what they are talking about. If you do too much you will get a headache. You really need to take it easy. I also felt better after surgery than before. Getting the pressure of the tumor out of my head was a relief! Keep in mind that Dr. Delashaw often does the more difficult cases and he knows what you will need in your situation. Patient testimonials are that... patient testimonials. Always research the qualifications of your doctors independently. |
