Jude: If you have any questions about anything following your surgery with Dr. Shahinian, call his office...they are fabulous! Most post op patients do not have the resources you do with that team. Not only are they knowledgeable in general, they have the specifics to your case. I think you went to the best surgeon in the world...and he surrounds himself with such knowledgeable people that you will not be led astray with your questions. I will always look to my experience with that team as the hallmark of what a medical team should look like. You can absolutely depend on what Dr. Shahinian tells you. The Oregon team that looked at me gave me only a 50% chance of removing my tumor and Dr. Shahinian gave me a 98% chance. He removed my tumor in 2000 and I have no signs of tumor regrowth 5 years later. You can call me if you want: 541-757-9663. Follow your post op requests about sleeping upright and bending to the "T". They may have more requirements than some but they know what they are talking about. If you do too much you will get a headache. You really need to take it easy. I also felt better after surgery than before. Getting the pressure of the tumor out of my head was a relief! Keep in mind that Dr. Shahinian often does the more difficult cases and he knows what you will need in your situation. Jean in Oregon
