If I were in your shoes I would want an MRI to see if a pituitary tumor was causing the hormone levels to drop. You should also have your cortisol and growth hormone levels checked. If a pituitary tumor is the cause, it can be removed by an expert to relieve the pressure it is placing on the pituitary and your life could suddenly return to normal. (These tumors can now be removed in a fully endoscopic method where the patient has a quick recovery.) Since your prolactin level is normal, if you have a pituitary tumor, it would not be the type of pituitary tumor called a prolactinoma (prolactinomas cause elevated prolactin levels). If your growth hormone and cortisol level are not high the tumor would most likely be considered a non functioning tumor. These tumors cause all kinds of problems by simply pressing on the pituitary to the point that the pituitary starts losing function. You can call me if you want: 541-757-9663. Jean in Oregon |
